Therapeutic Approaches, Clinical Experience, and Additional Information
First and foremost, I support and encourage clients to learn more about themselves, their values, and to find the impetus to take small steps to build a more meaningful life. I primarily work from an acceptance and commitment therapy and emotion focused therapy framework. EFT, or emotion-focused therapy highlights the importance of recognizing, acknowledging, and leaning into emotion as a foundation to developing and understanding ourselves, our relationships, and ourselves in relation to others. ACT, or acceptance and commitment therapy is an active form of therapy where clients explore what is important to them and learn skills to handle difficult thoughts and feelings more effectively. I also draw from a variety of other therapeutic models and techniques such as internal family systems, schema therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapies. Integrating these approaches along with compassion, curiosity, and humour, I hope to provide you with a space to feel supported, safe, and capable of growth and change.
During my master’s program in counselling psychology at Yorkville University, I completed an internship at the Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities at Carleton University. I completed my qualifying hours under the clinical supervision of Dr. Deanna Drahovzal, a clinical psychologist at Gilmour Psychological Services. In Fall 2023 I joined Centrepointe Professional Services as an independent practitioner, and I’m excited and feel very privileged to part of such a dynamic multi-disciplinarian team.
